The Archives of the Episcopal Church is commissioned by General Convention to support The Episcopal Church’s historical mission and institutional memory. That mission involves a range of activities from social ministries to international mission for education and health, from traditional liturgical forms of worship to personal experiences in moral leadership. The historical records repository of the Archives is located in Austin, Texas on the campus of the Seminary of the Southwest, with records management operations in New York City. The Archives manages and preserves over 19,000 cubic feet of records as well as the Church’s electronic assets. While the Archives’ main audience is internal, it serves numerous researchers who are interested in the local and world-wide activities of The Episcopal Church.
